2006 Season Fines

The worst part about this job - fine time.

Very low fine totals this year; thanks everybody.

Some fines that would have otherwise existed have been waived either because of the PA snafu previously discussed or for other reasons (eg failure of road managers to follow specific usage instructions).

Please let me know if you have any disagreement with the fines on this list, and we can discuss.

BRK: $50K (late series - series 11)

HUM: $170K (Gosling 14 IP @ $5K/each + $100K "kicker")

MON: $165K (late series - series 12 and 13; Mota 3 IP @ $5K/each + $50K "kicker")

PBG: $50K (late series - series 4)

Erie had more egregious overusage than anyone, due to simply failing to pick up a couple of hitters in waiver picks. While I am guessing a large fine is waived due to JR resigning from the league, shouldn't there be some kind of fine assessed? If I recall correctly, Erie carried a balance over 2 million, and there was really no excuse for not picking up a couple of more hitters. Even if you don't want to saddle new owners with previous manager's failings, I think fairness to the other league members requires docking Erie at least the cost of 2 waiver players.

Don -

You are absolutely correct, in that the fine was waived because the team will be under new management.

You make a good point about assessing a lesser fine, however.  I will ponder that.
