Austin expects to finish drafting soon with 5 open roster spots for carded players. That's not ideal, particularly since they have failed to add any waiver picks. They would definitely like some of those, but are also open to adding players in advance. The only real need is for a 3rd catcher who's good enough defensively to rest Smith and Jackson in blowouts. Beyond that, I'm just looking for guys who seem useful and/or interesting.
Also, their minors are crowded enough that they're willing to move one or both of the following at a discount. Perhaps that will appeal to one of those teams who can't afford to fill their rosters.
1) Caden Bogenpohl (Missouri State OF) - Huge and talented but has been somewhat disappointing in his draft eligible year.
2) Alek Manoah (LAA RHP) - Hey, remember when he finished 3rd in Cy Young voting. Wasn't that cool?
