By popular demand, I'll share how the Surprise roster is shaping up and how you can help!
SUR currently has 34 cards and will fill the rest of their uncarded spots in the IOD. McCutchen has found a new home, but there are still 3 players who fit into the useful, but nonessential category. All were FA additions. Once again, I'll list what I paid for reference.
1) Zack Short ($40K) - Crushed LHP, even more so in the clutch and has a decent SS rating. Catch is that he only has 62 APA, which means he's a luxury I can't afford.
2) Jose Fermin ($60K) - Strong hitting card both ways and in the clutch. Rated 4 for 2B, 3B, LF and RF. Only has 77 APA so he's expendable but useful enough that I won't give him away.
3) Tyler Alexander ($111K) - Solid lefty swingman with 108 AIP. He's still useful to us, but his role has been significantly diminished by those added later and may have more value to others.
Cash is always nice but it would be even better to fill one or both of our bench needs before the waiver draft.
1) 2B - It looks like we're rolling with a Holliday/Rivas platoon and need to add a good defender to the mix. It would be great to get someone who can also hit enough to start sometimes but defense is the priority.
2) OF - Rodriguez is our only true everyday guy out there and we want add another good defender there too. Similar to above, I'd prefer to get someone who can also contribute with the bat or as a pinch runner. There are a bunch of waiver dudes who can fill this role but I'm open to alternatives.
3) Pitching? - If Alexander goes, I would consider adding a higher quality arm with fewer innings but there are a lot of those in the waiver draft too.
Speaking of the waiver draft, if we do head into it with two roster spots to fill, it sure would be nice to make that second pick before 2-25.
