Undeterred by Brooklyn's big acquisition of Big Aaron Judge, Deadwood made their own big move today. I don't expect it to be enough to seriously threaten Brooklyn, but our season will certainly be much more interesting now!
Deadwood sends Jordan Beck, Jordan Wicks, Cole Winn and $300K of the cash we failed to spend in the FA auction to Washington for Brandon Drury and Tommy Pham.
Best of luck to that trio of prospects and our cash in Washington. Wicks had to go so we can purge the final named remnant of last year's big trade with Bali. The player to be named later with the 2nd round pick in that deal is still here, but I'll give him a pass.
Although Drury is obviously the headliner, we're even more excited about bring back Dr. Tommy Pham, DDS. Like the dearly departed Joey Votto, he was on the 2016 Surprise Zombies team that won an incredible 128 games and their 3rd straight championship.
More importantly though, he's now on the same team as his fantasy football nemesis, Joc Pederson! Get your popcorn ready!
Washington confirms as we try to take advantage of the mid career guys with decent years before they turn into pumpkins...now we just have to hope Cole Winn can remember how to pitch like he did in 2021!
