Oh, right, the rule proposals - Votes Due THURS 12/22 at NOON
Permalink

Sorry about forgetting to post this before.  Votes are due Thursday the 22nd by NOON CENTRAL.  Each manage gets 1 vote regardless of the number of teams.  Votes need a majority of owners to vote for them (eg not a majority of those voting, but a majority of owners).  Please vote!

You can vote here or by sending me an email.

The Proposals Are:

  1. A team winning less than 40 games will no longer forfeit the money for wins.
  2. Allow steals of home.
  3. If the Owner of a "C" Player declines to match (in the C Auction), they receive: (i) The winning bid, if that bid is 250K or less or (ii) The refund of the 125K "C" contract salary + 50% of the winning bid, if that bid is more than 250K
  4. ARBA adopts the MLB playoff format (3 wild card teams, etc.).
  5. ARBA will have a one-week trading period during the season at a time established by the Commissioner before the season starts.  All trades must abide by then-current money balances, cannot involve trades of future draft picks (including the upcoming draft), and other trade restrictions (trade restrictions involving two-team owners would continue from the prior trading period - eg if your first team trades a player to another team in the offseason, your second team cannot acquire that player in this in-season period).  All Rotations can be revised at the end of this period.
  6. Make the Wild Card Series 3 games instead of 1 (contingent on proposal 4 not passing)

Vote early (yes!), vote often (not really!).

Y.O.C.

For the record, I checked and there is a rule on the books that steals of home are not allowed.  The reasons are lost to history.

I am confused by number 5- the bit about "then current money balances."

Is that just saying that people can't trade more cash than they actually have, or is there some sort of expectation that the team receiving a player takes responsibility for the value of his contract?

The former - salaries are paid in Jan only and no partial refunds or anything.

Okay, I'd better get my votes in before hopping on a plane tomorrow.

1 - No (prefer having some small incentive for teams not totally bottoming out)

2 - Yes (forgot there was somehow a rule against this, so whatever, be bold!)

3 - Yes (I hated this when first proposed, but don't mind the current version)

4 - Yes (more should suffer playoff pain!)

5 - No (get off my lawn!)

6 - Yes (if it matters)
