Nebraska wins 6-0. Johnny Dorn (unowned) just totally dominated the Texas lineup. Lefthanders got some decent swings against him driving balls to the fence that were eventually caught. Drew Stubbs (HUM) did stroke a line drive double to right center and Preston Clark (HOU) redshirt freshman catcher went 3 for 3 against him, but that was really it. Stubbs also chased down a drive to the right center field gap with the bases jammed and 2 out. It didn't look like he got a great jump on it, but he did out run it.
Kyle Russell didn't play. Not sure why he didn't start. It was certainly a different lineup Augie trotted out there. At least 2 little used players started and Stubbs batted leadoff. Brad Suttle (FTW) freshman infielder went 0 for 4 and looked overmatched vs Dorn, but then so did most of the TExas lineup. TExas starter Adrian Alaniz (unowned) was not sharp and was unable to miss any of the Nebraska bats.
Nebraska struck me as a very heady team that plays outstanding defense. They don't have any superstars in their lineup, but everyone can hit. They just really seemed to outplay Texas in all facets on Sunday.
Although Joba Chamberlain (SFE) NU's 1st rd pick this June didn't pitch Sunday (he pitched and lost on Friday), I did see him during warmup's and he is a mountain of a man.
I wouldn't be surprised to see both of these teams make it to Omaha.
