Okay, so it turns out that the previous owner of the team now known as DLM sent their #5 to SPR in a long-forgotten trade. So SHI and DLM worked out a new deal that's actually legal.
SHI pays DLM the princely sum of $160K for SF #4 and DLM #6-8.
