The Cannon Beach Whalers have changed management, moved to the CL South division, and will now be the San Francisco Seawolves. With just two weeks left in this trading period, new management is eager to put their stamp on the franchise. The following players are now available:
Kevin Pillar - a 1e1 in CF with a projected -1 arm, had 16 HR's and 15 SB's and is still just 28 years old.
Jon Lester - 32 starts and 180 innings from the veteran lefty at a 4.33 ERA. A down year, but still solid with a 1.32 WHIP and .259 opponent batting average.
Nick Ahmed - The 27 year old Dback shortstop had his season cut short by injury, but he'll be a 2e19 and hit .393 with good power against lefties. A perfect platoon option.
Curtis Granderson - The veteran lefty OFer will be a 3 in LF, hit 26 HR's and walked 71 times. Despite his lower batting average, he is still a good on-base, power option against righties in LF or DH.
Blake Treinen - The Oakland A's closer ended the season with a 3.93 ERA, but flourished in the second half with a 2.13 ERA over 38 innings after the midseason trade to Oakland.
Juan Lagares - The defensive wiz in New York is a 1e8 in CF with a projected -2 arm with a projected 32 on-base chances against rigties. A solid 4th OFer.
Alec Asher - The 25 year old ex-Phillie prospect will have a backwards card, holding lefties to a .220 average over 60 innings, plus he can start 6 games.
Danny Farquhar - The righty reliever allowed just 39 hits over 49 innings, while striking out 45 and allowing just 3 HR's. He'll also have a backwards card, holding lefties to a .185 average.
There may be others available (perhaps DJ Lemahieu in the right deal), but the team is not rebuilding and is looking to compete.
The Seawolves need help at 3B, RF, #1 or #2 Starting Pitcher, SS vs. RHP, Catcher vs. LHP, and relief help. Cash and draft picks are also needed.
