Anyway, this one is a little more significant than the past 3 deals...

Desperate to distract doubters from dubious decisions on salaries and auction bids, Surprise sends a large duffel bag filled with $500K in unmarked bills to Capreol (tripling their cash balance) in exchange for Jeremy Jeffress, CAP #1, and CAP #3.  

Only time will tell if adding 5 (!) pitchers from Capreol turns out to be a winning strategy...

This move does make John Axford, Surprise's biggest CFA acquisition, available if the price is right.  We are also shopping big bat with low PA (minors eligible even) catcher Geovany Soto, who still hasn't even arrived in Surprise yet after today's trade with Davenport.
