Hello all! I'm always reluctant to talk about breaking up a team while it's in the playoffs, but had better put something out here anyway. For the 2016 season, Surprise pitching looks great again with surplus in starters (214 GS) and closers (3 with 30+ saves). We're in pretty good shape with the Pirate OF and 2B Odor, but the rest of the team needs a lot of work to make another run.
I'm open to talking about other players, but am most likely to trade from this group:
1) Adrian Gonzalez (1B) - Has been the one constant for SUR over 9 seasons and I would love to keep him around for more. However, he's coming off his A contract and I can't really justify paying him A8 money. He would expect a far more reasonable B11 if traded and put up good numbers again (830 OPS, 28 HR).
2) Mark Buehrle (LH SP) - The crafty veteran just keeps rolling. He can deliver 32 GS with 219 AIP and a 3.81 ERA. Only a B6 contract for 2016
3) Danny Duffy (LH SP) - Young lefty has 24 GS, 150 AIP, and 4.04 ERA. B2 for 2016.
4) Luke Gregerson (RH Closer) - Worst of my 3 closer options, but damn good. 31 saves with 67 AIP and 3.10 ERA. B7 for 2016. Go Astros!
5) Pablo Sandoval (3B) - So yeah, that move to Boston worked out great! Still decent vs. RHP and not old, but that was disappointing.
On that depressing note, I'll transition to just listing a bunch of other guys who didn't exactly deliver championship-level performances in the 2015 MLB season, but are all Proven Winners (tm) guaranteed to make a huge impact on your team chemistry through their amazing intangibles! (Note: guarantees are not legally binding.)
Proven Winners: Alex Avila (C), Neftali Feliz (RP), Desmond Jennings (OF), Matt Holliday (OF), Daniel Nava (OF/1B), Cliff Pennington (IF/OF), Adam Rosales (IF/OF), Wilin Rosario (1B/C), Ryan Rua (OF/1B) Scott Van Slyke (OF), and Chase Utley <sigh>
I'm also willing to deal picks and prospects with sufficient temptation.
Needs: C, 1B, 3B, DH. Finding a younger and cheaper SS would be nice also, but I'll probably end up keeping Peralta.
Okay, that'll do for now. Bring on the fabulous offers!
