Michael Pineda, finally semi-healthy after being hurt for two years following his acquisition in exchange for Max Scherzer (d'oh!), fired a no-hitter at the Golden Retrievers! Pineda walked three, and even allowed a run to score on a double-steal combined with a throwing error by catcher AJ Pierzynski, but he completed the 9-inning no-hitter for a 3-1 SFE win! Nice bright spot in what is sure to be a lost season for the former champs.
Tom and I exchanged several e-mails about this. I have played over 40,000 games at SOM online, and so have had quite a few no-hitters. My favorite was in a high-cap league in the All-Time Greats card set, where Pete Alexander no-hit a lineup that included Barry Bonds, Duke Snider, Joe DiMaggio, Mel Ott, Willie McCovey, Jackie Robinson, Jorge Posada, Nomar Garciaparra, and Cecil Travis. And the game was played in a ballpark with ballpark effects of 13-10, 16-13 (singles and homers left and right).
