Just so that it doesn't get buried in an unrelated thread, anyone interested in my approach to deadlines, being Commissioner, etc, and potentially most importantly an opportunity to become ARBA commissioner should be sure to read the TWP/SHI Blockbuster thread.
This is in reference to my questioning a ruling allowed by Tom last week. For the record, I have no issues with Tom as Commissioner. He has been Commissioner for several years after taking over for my tenure of about 3 years. In Tom's tenure as Commissioner I have only felt obliged to question his decisions on two occasions. The first was when he allowed Keith to claim a playoff spot with severe player overusage. I won't go into the details, other than to say we implemented a rule change to address it the following year. The second was the one that just happened. I am not questioning Tom's sincerity and dedication to the league or his ability to continue as Commissioner. We just had a disagreement over something that had no impact as far as I can tell on the waiver draft. It was the principle of the issue and what could have happened as far as I was concerned. I have expressed my concern and moved on.
Just to be fully clear about everything here, Gary's comments and criticisms are taken in the spirit in which he offered them, as questions and comments for the good of the league and with no malice, etc. Everyone should feel free to question me, either here or via email, whenever I'm doing something that seems wrong, or odd, or that could just be done better in your opinion.
