Is the auction over yet? Wow, that was a rather brutal marathon experience, but thanks to Tom for keeping it moving along.
Did your teams end up with everything they needed? If not, perhaps you'll consider some of Shiner's excess players. They headed into the auction with only 3 batters (+ 9 on Cs), including no outfielders. They ended up with...19 batters, including 9 OF, plus a few more who can play out there. So, that seems a bit excessive. Listed below are the players who I'm most willing to deal, along with their CFA prices and a brief description.
1) Melky Cabrera (230K) - 409 APA, can kinda play LF, pretty much cratered, but still got on base vs. RHP
2) Nate Schierholtz (190K) - 553 APA, RF2(-2)e4, good power vs. RHP, can even steal some bases
3) Xavier Paul (125K) - 263 APA, LF, actually the 2nd or 3rd best hitter vs. RHP on my team now, but I like others more
4) Carlos Corporan (40K) - 231 APA, switch hitting C/1B who didn't hit much, but cheap!
5) Kelly Shoppach (40K) - UL PA, surprisingly good for an unlimited C, so I just couldn't resist taking him too, but Molina doesn't need 2 backups
6) Reid Brignac (40K) - UL PA, ss2e12 and will attempt to play 2b/3b/lf if needed, value is clearly in the SS D, but I added another good defensive SS, so...
I don't have to get rid of all these guys, but it would be nice to clear out 2 or 3. In return, SHI is seeking cash or comparable value in an IF, particularly 3B. I would gladly trade multiple players and add cash for someone that I like enough. Interesting pitchers may also be an option. You might be able to talk me into trading others as well, but I'll stop here for now.
