Hdt backed into the playoffs going 4-10 in series 13 vs Dav, but thanks to Gary and his Assassins from Aus beating up Was 10 out of 14, Hdt secures another division title. OK Gary, I'll let you hang out with me again in Vegas this year.
Hdt overcame season ending injuries to Halladay, Sexson, Glaus and Ordonez and still prevailed. Hdt was reduced to using 2 unlimited hitters (Mcmillion and Leon) for over 1000 pa, batting pitchers in the dh position and trotting out unlimited pitchers Cornejo and Smith for 200+ very ugly innings. Yet despite these obstacles the Diablos came out on top. So much for Jeff Mayes and Peter Gammons' preseason prediction that Hdt had no chance of winning the division.

I don't remember predicting that, but I wouldn't doubt if I did...I'll eat some crow.
Dad deserves major kudos for actually finishing the year and trying to win as many games as possible (especially playing Ken, a childhood friend)...definitely the exception in this league and not the rule as most tank the 2nd half once they realize they are not playoff bound. I've seen some pretty uninspired lineups late in the season when teams have quality players on the bench with plenty of at bats...I guess it's about that almighty #1 pick.
