If you're looking to contend, Springfield has the following players available for your consideration:
David Dellucci- platooner who hit 29 homers and posted a 902 OPS against righties. B2 contract.
Rondell White- 400 PA, hit 313/348/489 overall, particularly good against lefties with a 905 OPS. He'll be on a B3 contract this year.
Trevor Hoffman- B2 contract for a closer who held opponents to 235/273/344 and had 43 saves.
Tom Gordon- B4 contract, great setup man, opponents hit 203/272/330, did have two saves so some sort of closer rating.
Shigetoshi Hasegawa- poor man's Gordon, B1 contact, opponents hit 259/307/353.
Others: Kenny Lofton, Tino Martinez, Daryl Ward, and Julio Franco will be in the C auction unless somebody wants to lock them up now.
And I'll consider trading Ichiro for value, but I'm not out to dump his contract or anything.
From my perspective, I'm not going to contend this year, but I'm not looking to burn to the ground and start over, either. I think I have chances to contend as early as one year out. So, I am more interested in cash, major league bounce-back candidates, and prospects who are close to the majors than I am in draft picks and low minors guys. I am particularly interested in a long term 3B since Hinske is now at 1B.
