After taking a good hard look at this team, I have to admit that they're just going to be competitive this year. There are too many holes and not enough assets to fill them. Therefore, I'm hanging "For Sale" signs on some of the players who might be more valuable to legitmate contenders. It's still not a total fire sale as I plan to retain the core of elite talent and the team is too thin at the major league level to just give away the marginal players.
Here are some players who might be more valuable to a contender: - Jon Garland (33 GS, 4.09 ERA) - Matt Guerrier (76 IP, 2.36 ERA) - John Lackey (27 GS, 3.83 ERA) - Dave Weathers (62 IP, 3.92 ERA)
Crap! That's a really short list, which I suppose proves my point. I'm willing to entertain offers for other players, but SCH already has big holes in the IF, OF, and pitching staff. We're interested in young talent and those elusive bounceback candidates, particularly those with PA and/or IP.
