Rule Proposal

As my special gift to the YOC, I'm going to make a last minute rule proposal.  I think that we should reactivate the clutch hitting feature!  This may seem like heresy, but I'm not proposing this because I suddenly started believing in the myth of clutch hitting skill.  However, the fact is that Strat builds there cards based on how the hitter performed in the clutch that season.  Turning off that feature in the game does not eliminate the effect of clutch hitting.  Instead, it has the unfortunate impact of taking hits away from "good" clutch hitters and giving extra hits to "bad" clutch hitters.  Until Strat comes up with a better way to take clutch hitting out of the game, turning this feature on is the lesser of two evils.  Thank you for your consideration. Vote early, vote often.

I think what Eric says makes sense as far as it goes, but I've voted no on the proposal, just because I don't find the Clutch hitting feature transparent.

I use the "compare" feature all the time and I'd rather not have to sit there going "ok, this guy looks better, but oh wait, this is a clutch situation, so these numbers aren't accurate and I have no very convenient way to get the real numbers."

Maybe I'm a lazy bastard but I value convenience over the small (but real, I admit) improvement in accuracy that this rule change would give.

Dude!  That would be a very compelling argument, if it were true.  Perhaps the pie chart and and Compare numbers and graphics didn't take clutch hitting into account in earlier versions.  However, I checked it today and can assure you that the numbers definitely changed for batters in clutch vs. non-clutch situations.  I'd better file my formal protest now in case my proposal loses based on this misinformation!
