boycott HDT trades

Hooray, another boycott!  I'm pretty sure the last call for a trade boycott was against me a few years ago, so I'm thrilled to be off the hot seat!  Congrats, Keith!

And don't let Keith bull**** you!  Jennings was good for one year out of six. Sowers was decent as a rookie but had a horrible K/IP ratio.  As one would expect he blew up in year two.

Boycott at your own peril.

3 years ago I offered Papelbon and Lestor in a trade for Blalock and Brk turned me down. Last year I couldn't get anyone to even make an offer for Mags. Hdt wishes to thank the entire league for refusing to make an offer for Magsbiggrin

Tom is SFE wishing to return Tim Lincecum, Chris Young and Josh Fields or are they glad they made a trade with Hdt? How about you Eric, want to return Ellsburyconfused

If anyone should incur the boycott wrath, it should be the gentleman who consistently rapes both friend and foe. I won't mention any names but his initials are TRAVISevileye

Keith

Don't be a deflector, just take your boycott like a man!

Since Keith mentioned me by name, I'll jump in here.  I've made quite a few trades with Keith's teams, probably one every other year.  Almost all of them were painful at the time, but most seem fair in retrospect.  One key exception is when he caught me right after losing the WS to him back in 1993 and I foolishly dumped Vizquel right before he won the GG.  That deal definitely set us back for a while.  However, several of the key contributors to last year's championship team came through HDT or GDP/SOU: Pettitte, Cordero, and Giambi.  So my non-boycott did yield some positive results.
I LOVE Ellsbury, but still wonder if he and Betancourt was enough for the fabulous Jimmy Rollins.  I doubt that Keith wants to return him either.  I do have to challenge his assertion that nobody in the league made an offer for Magglio Ordonez.  I certainly did try to get him into the Rollins deal, but one of the fun things about Keith is that he doesn't haggle and also rarely accepts offers that he doesn't initiate.  So it doesn't surprise me that my obviously inadequate offer was quickly forgotten!

I guess my point is that trading with Keith can be worth the peril.  You aren't likely to get a bargain, but at least he's willing to give up value to get value.  Like most of us, he'll make silly offers on occasion and some of them even get accepted.  I'm still a little bitter about how cheaply he picked up Edmonds many years ago, but I've had my share of bargains over the years too.  You should probably boycott trying to negotiate with him if the initial offer isn't acceptable though.  Banging your head against a wall would be more productive.  So that's my 2 cents.  Damn, I'm actually defending Keith...

Eric,,

I stand corrected, forgot about Mags being in the intial discussions but that went away when you banished Hunter to Aus and ended Hunter's chances of being on a championship team.

I doubt either party wants to unwind the Rollins or Beltran trades. Which is my point exactly, that I give fair value in exchange in my trades. Now if someone offers me a lopsided deal, I am more than willing to take the deal. I don't go out making Travis type offers.

Keith, you have no idea what kind of offers I make because I don't think I have ever traded with you.  Feel free to correct me!

Let me first say I consider any anonymous posting to cowardly. If you don't have the balls to post your name DON'T make the post. I have traded with Keith many times and will continue to trade with Keith many years into the future (as I suspect we will both die ARBA members).
Let me now take this opportunity to make this statement- I have always had concerns about postings that are judgemental about trades. Trades should be about creating equal value. Sometimes you just can't trade with a manager because you and he can not agree on equal value. Trades are an exciting part of the off season and no matter how poorly the trade proposal stacks up it should be responded to promply and courtiously, even if to just say "no thanks". So keep the trades coming and please eliminate the name calling on the message board. If you have a issue call them up or send them a private email, but; I don't want to read it, see it or hear about on the message board. Those postings are usually pale guise's for frustrations and past animosities.

For the record, in my many and various dealings with Keith, I have always found him perfectly reasonable to deal with.  He has his idiosyncrasies, as we all do, but he tends to respond to offers and not get uppity about the process, which is really all I ask in a trading partner.  I've had trades with him that have worked out well, and those that have not.

Of course, I could also say the above about pretty much everyone in the league...

Jeez, guys, take a chill pill. I was the first anonymous poster. It was all in fun cause Keith and I have this fun feud thing going on. He constantly makes remarks that all is well as long as Austin doesn't win. Note the quote when he didn't even know I was in on any of this "when you banished Hunter to Aus and ended Hunter's chances of being on a championship team". Those comments don't bother me, just part of the way Keith is.  All I said was BOYCOT HDT trades. At no time did I disparage his trades. The comment was made to make fun about not trading with him. I didn't expect anyone to take it seriously. If no one trades with him then I have a better chance to catch him talent wise.

I didn't make the second anonymous comment and I don't know who did, but I still don't see it as disparaging. Just a little fun at Keith's sell job for a couple of his players.

I did make the third comment about BOYCOTTING both Keith and Travis cause the tables turned on Trav.  Thought we were just having a little fun. Don't try to read between the lines and make more of something than is there.

Lots of posts get made with anonymous or fake names on this board that are poking fun. When I have something to say to someone I have plenty of BALLS to say it out right and use my name. I assume the web master can tell who the poster is if someone really wants to know so I would never post anything that I really wanted to be anonymous.

I for one enjoy the banter.   Keith can give as well as he takes, regarding insults as well as trades.  Traditionally ARBA has always been openly critical of trades and draft picks.  I still dont live down Chito Martinez with overall number one and Chipper jones for Ken Griffey............SENIOR!  Ahhhhh the memories.

Also I noticed recently when posting that Anonymous is the default name.  So if you forget to type in your name it comes up anonymous.  Happened to me the other day.

The Family Fued of Hatfields (Keith) and McCoy's (Gary) is one of the best rivalries in ARBA history.  So we should all sit back and enjoy it.

I have traditionally traded with Keith on an annual basis and find that sometimes he gets the better, sometimes I do.  But usually it's win, win.  Keith trades value for vlaue, as most of us try to do.  But of course value is quite subjective.

for the record,

I took it all in fun and assumed the source was a fan of a certain 120 win team that got bounced in the 1st rd of the playoffs.
