Whew! He certainly didn't come cheaply, but Surprise has acquired Jose Lopez to be their new "2B of the Future" (and now). In return, they sent Donald Veal, Michael Bowden, Aaron Cunningham, and the Surprise #3 to Davenport. Ouch! It was tough to part with 3 of my favorites, but hopefully Lopez will be here a lot longer than the guy whose job he just usurped.
Side effects of this deal include:
1) Adam Kennedy is now very expendable and we won't need a 2B back in return.
2) We have 3 more open spots in the minors, which had become dangerously full. Those weren't the ones who I wanted to move, but I'm comfortable with sacrificing them for Lopez.
