I've been avoiding thoughts about next season, but I'll try to focus on this for a moment anyway. My strong preference is to find a new owner for SOS and cut back to one ARBA team again. Doesn't anyone else have a friend or son who wants to join?
In the likely event that my desperate plea goes unanswered, SOS will be moving into serious rebuilding mode. All old guys must go! And SOS has a ton of old guys! Ancient pitchers include Randy Johnson, Glavine, and Lieber while the ancient batters group features Edmonds, Brian Giles, Alou, Kendall, and of course 8,000 year old Incan mummy Julio Franco. There are probably some others who I'm forgetting, but that's a start. I won't be moving quickly on trades with SOS until I give up hope on unloading the entire team.
As for Surprise, I just don't have a plan yet. The key factor may be whether I can finally break my long streak of playoff disappointment. If so, then I might celebrate with some attempts at rebuilding. If not, then I might have to dig up some live arms and chase the dream again. Either way, Surprise has a glut of everyday OF (Ichiro!, Manny, Torii, Dave Roberts, plus Rondell and Craig Wilson), big holes at catcher and the starting rotation, and may have to find a new home for the Giambi monster coming off his fat A contract.
