The Terriers and the Horsemen kicked off the Wild Card Round in Hollywoo!
Game 1 -- A great pitching matchup of Skubal v. Crochet. Bayport scratches out a couple of early runs, but Cal Raleigh put the Horsemen ahead with a 3-run HR that knocked Skubal out of the game. Everything settled down and Crochet was dominant through 8. In the 9th -- THEME ALERT! -- with Hollywoo! up 5-2 and Iglesias in the game trying to close things out, Schwarber comes to the plate with two men on and a chance to tie the game. Long fly to right... caught. WOO 5, BAY 2
Game 2 -- Another good matchup, Pivetta v. Imanaga. This will forever be known as the "Schwarber Game." Schwarber hit a 2-run HR in the 1st and another in the 5th, leading me to text Don, "Maybe I should stop pitching to that guy?" Bayport is up 4-1 in the 7th; after Hollywoo loads the bases and pushes home one run, Burnes comes in to relieve Pivetta and Herrera comes to the plate as a pinch hitter. Result: HR to give Hollywoo! a 5-4 lead. In the 9th, Iglesias comes in the save the game. Schwarber comes up up two outs... does Josh pitch to him? ... can he do it again? ... yes and yes! Schwarber hits his third HR of the game to send us to extra innings. In the 10th, the Terriers leave the bases loaded, setting up a dramatic game winning RBI from Kwan in the bottom of the inning. WOO 6, BAY 5 (10)
Hollywoo! wins the series and awaits the next round.
Congrats to Don on a great season and for assembling a team with a very formidable pitching staff.
