Surprise got carried away in the auction, adding 8 new players! In particular, they got carried away with adding low PA IF. They didnt spend a lot on those guys, but the roster feels too crowded and there are still needs to fill. Please let me know if youre interested in any of the following.
1) Christian Walker - Everyone hates him, but he does have a ton of PA and hit for power.
2) Zach Short - Fun lefty mashing card that has power and is good in the clutch. Hes even solid at SS. Catch is that he only has 62 APA.
3) Charlie Morton - Grizzled veteran starter can eat up to 155 cromulent innings. SUR has a troublingly low pitcher/inning ratio, but should still try to do better.
It would also be nice to do better than McCutchen and/or Alexander, but I probably shouldnt dream too big. in exchange for these exciting players, SUR is seeking cash and/or picks. It would also be great to add another lefty-masher for RF or 2B, but I may be dreaming again.
Further demonstrating the success of yesterday's auction efforts, Surprise is also not fully committed to these other acquisitions:
Jacob Latz - This was our biggest investment by far and SUR did need some decent innings but would still sacrifice him in a deal for a decent starter with more innings.
Jose Fermin - Fun little card with high OB on both sides, clutch hitting, and defensive ratings at 4 positions. That's useful on any bench, including ours, but may not be the best choice for a precious roster spot.
Given their roster situation, SUR would obviously consider 2-for-1 or even 3-for-1 player deals if the value is there. I eagerly await inquiries from interested parties.
