We saw the Guillermo del Toro Frankenstein last weekend (I was kinda disappointed, TBH, but that's a different topic).
I mention that because in del Toro's version, the Monster JUST WILL NOT DIE. I think of Camden that way. Camden wins the division every year, it seems. And even when, like this year, Camden does not win the division, the teams slips into the playoffs. Hollywoo! finished an astounding 24 games ahead of Camden, but if you asked Hollywoo! fans about the vibes heading into a series against Camden, the answer would be "Anxiety level: way high."
GAME 1: This game lacked a lot of drama. Neto and Kwan both hit two homeruns while Crochet held Camden to one hit with 9 Ks over 5+ innings. WOO 8-2
GAME 2: This game had all the drama. Camden got 3-run homeruns from Goldschmidt and Carroll to take an early 6-2 lead, knocking Imanaga out of the game. Travis at this point remarked that this was a "much better" start, but "not sure it's possible to keep [Hollywoo!'s] offense down." Travis' strategy was to "Manage the F___" out of the game by making pitching changes as if he were paid by the mound visit. Starting in the first inning, Camden used 12 (yes, 12) different pitchers to try to nurse the lead. This was a good strategy, as the Hollywoo! bullpen held Camden to one hit the rest of the game, so six runs would have to hold up.
The game was 6-5 heading into the bottom on the ninth, but Camden was essentially out of pitchers, and the few non-closers who were available were all "tired" as Kahnle hit the wall. Three walks later, Travis brings in Scherzer to try to save the game. It does not work. A wild pitch later, the game was tied. Ozuna's single brought home the series winning run. WOO 7-6.
CONCLUSION: Congrats to Travis and Camden on another successful season. Hollywoo! dominated the series stats (2 game sample size), hitting .286 for the series with 7 homeruns. The real story was Hollywoo! pitching, however, most notably the 26/0 K/BB ratio. I put the boxscores here if anyone is interested: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BgnIsINSaL1Lpg3xnpx_LJH4LrffK9XO?usp=sharing
Congrats to Josh, just too much fire power on the Hollywoo team for Camden to keep up, especially when Kwan and Neto start dropping bombs around Judge, Raleigh, and Ozuna. I might have lost the game but I think Josh owes me a medium rare steak in the end!!!
