After a slow start, Austin ended up adding 6 players, bringing their roster up to 33. That's feeling a bit crowded, so the first two pickups have been deemed expendable.
- John Schreiber: RH reliever was great in 2022 but more of a ROOGY in 2023. He still has 52 serviceable AIP and seems like a good bet to bounce back with KC.
- Tony Kemp: Lefty has 461 APA with 3s for 2B and LF. He's better vs. LHP which is why AUS added him, but I'd rather get RH to platoon with Lowe.
I only paid $40K for each and wouldn't expect much in return, just comparable value in the form of cash and/or picks. AUS still needs a platoon 2B vs. LHP and could offer cash if you have one to spare. AUS is also in the market to add draft picks in the more affordable rounds.
