Happy New Year! The deadline is only a week away, but I'm still not feeling any symptoms of trading fever yet. The recent news about a young Dominican phenom certainly hasn't helped and makes me want to quit in disgust. However, that's clearly not allowed, so let's see if there are any trades to be made with minimal effort. I'll start by listing some available players.
Pitchers: Cole Irvin, Enyel De Los Santos, Miguel Castro, Bryan Baker, Peter Strzelecki, John Schreiber, Michael Kopech?, Alek Manoah?
Austin has a deep pitching staff so all these guys are expendable even though most were pretty good. As for the exceptions, I plan to keep Manoah and hope he bounces back from his disastrous 2023. Kopech is headed for the C auction unless a more tempting offer comes along.
Batters: Will Brennan, Wander Franco?
Yeah, we're not as deep here but do have solid starters at most positions. I'm not sure what to do about the guy I don't want to talk about.
Needs: A legit CF or 1B might be helpful and perhaps make one of our many lefty OF expendable. Picks and cash are always nice.
Okay, that's all the effort I'm prepared to make right now. Bring on the mildly interesting offers!
