Hello all! I took care of the draft lottery and Shiner is still waiting to learn the identity of their CLDS opponent, so I might as well do an off-season post this morning. The Greyhounds still have a strong core and added some fun rookies to the mix, but 2023 still looks like more of a transitional season. I could be wrong (as I was about 2022 Surprise), but am expecting them to miss the playoffs after 6 straight 95+ win seasons. Therefore, this seems like a good time to ship out everyone older than Shiner legend Jose Ramirez (born 9/17/92). That group includes some players who could really help a contender and others who have seen better days. As a courtesy, I'll list the more useful ones first, but bad players need love too!
Pitchers: Adam Wainwright, Marco Gonzales, Collin McHugh, Chris Stratton, Aaron Sanchez, Noe Ramirez, Jake McGee, Tyler "no-hitter" Gilbert, Miguel Castro, Kenta Maeda (E), Blake Treinen (E), Julian Merryweather (E).
Batters: Starling Marte, Kolten Wong, CJ Cron, Giancarlo Stanton (coming off A), Donovan Solano, Yuli Gurriel, Yadier Molina, Adam Engel, Robinson Chirinos, Andrelton Simmons.
Shiner may also break up their SS logjam by dealing the oldest of the 3. My beloved Bo Bichette, born 03/05/1998. Wow, that's ancient! However, the odds of anyone outbidding Mudville for his services are very slim indeed.
In return for these fabulous players, Shiner would be interested in younger players with some upside, even if they won't help much in the coming season. Preferred positions are C, 2B, OF, and 1B (i.e., not SS or 3B). Cash and picks are always welcome. I'm less interested in prospects, but can be tempted by shiny baubles.
Okay, I'll leave it there for now. Bring on the fabulous offers!
