Hello again, fellow kids! Its time for one of ARBA's most cherished traditions: Eric Does the Draft Lottery Because One of Tom's Teams Is Involved Yet Again, Dammit!
We narrowly avoided a tie for 5th place this year, so the more traditional teams are included in the 2023 draft lottery. The official lottery chance breakdown is as follows: SFE-1, DGG-2, EGR-3, MUD-4, ISL-5.
At the risk of offending the primordial baseball gods, were changing it up this year and going paperless for the first (?) time in Ye Olde ARBA Draft Lotterye History! Instead, I used this new-fangled software called Microsoft Excel to generate random numbers between 1 and 1,000 for each of the team chances listed above. Higher numbers were deemed better and each team retained only its highest number to determine the draft order. Got it? Okay, lets see how this turned out!
Some of our sacred traditions must be preserved, so I will reveal the results in reverse order for maximum dramatic effect!
DRUMROLL PLEASE...
MORE COWBELL PLEASE...
I CAN'T HEAR YOU...
FINE! I WILL GET ON WITH IT ALREADY!
The 5th pick is awarded to...Santa Fe! Their one chance rolled a 463, which just wasnt going to cut it. Hey, I like this cutting-edge methodology already.
The 4th pick is awarded to...East Greenwich! Their best of 3 rolls was 629 and they dropped a spot, which means Diego Garcia is moving up
The 3rd pick is awarded to...Mudville! Their best of 3 rolls was 818, which is pretty damn good, but not good enough to prevent them from dropping a spot.
Uh-oh, there are only 2 teams left. Will Islamorada hang onto the top spot after finishing with the worst record, or will Diego Garcia defy the odds by pulling off the upset?
Tune in next week to find out! Same Bat-Time! Same Bat-Channel!
Or maybe well just get this over with already.
The 2nd pick is awarded to...Diego Garcia! With only 2 chances, they rolled 830 and 806, the 2nd and 4th best overall. Lady Luck smiles as they jump from 4th to 2nd in the order.
Finally, the 1st pick is awarded to...Islamorada! Yeah, they are the only team left. 4 of their 5 rolls were 520 or less, but they averted disaster with a 937 to secure the top spot.
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? At least it didnt take as long as last nights 18-inning marathon.
