Lopez vs Woodruff

Woodruff danced in and out of trouble in the first two innings before DJ Stewart caught up to him with 2 outs in the 3rd with a 3 run homerun.  Camden would answer in the bottom of the inning with a very lucky 2 out passed ball scoring a run followed by a 2 run Josh Bell single.  The Camden bullpen took over on the 4th and held Surprise scoreless the rest of the way while Camden added runs in the 4th and 8th.  Aguilar tried to tie it up in the 9th off Nick Anderson with 2 outs but missed the 1-14 bp hr with a 16.  CMD wins 5-3

Bassitt vs Marquez

Surprise would score first again with Aguilar plating Guillorme in the first.  Camden would answer again in the bottom of the inning plating 2 runs.  Surprise tied it up in the 3rd with a DJ Stewart sac fly. The score remained tied until the 7th when Mayer got wild and put on Nola and Hicks on base.  Anderson was brought in to keep the score tied but after recording two outs on a pop up and K he induced a 2 out ground ball to Seager which he kicked into the outfield for  2 out 2 run error.  Trailing by 2 now Camden answered right back with a Yelich sac fly followed by a D'Arnaud 2 out 3 run blast to give Camden a two run lead.  Evan Marshall held Surprise scoreless the last two innings.  CMD wins 6-4

Keuchel vs Graterol

Not much scoring in this one.  Machado put Camden on the board with a solo shot in the 3rd.  Camden added another run in the 6th on a Panik 2 out bases loaded hbp.  Keuchel and the Camden bullpen would hold Surprise scoreless.  CMD wins 2-0

Woodruff vs Gonsolin

Not much scoring in this one either.  Woodruff pitched much better holding the Zombies scoreless through 5.  Gonsolin struggled early giving up a lead off hr to Acuna in the 1st, followed by a 2 out 2 run hr to Seager in the 3rd, and a solo shot by Gallo in the 4th.  Gonsolin would settle down and put up zeroes through the 7th, but the 4 runs prove to be too much as Surprise was held scoreless again (some tough rolls for Eric with a 20 and 17 in key situations).  CMD wins 4-0

Definitely didn't expect a sweep and very happy to get another series win given my record vs Eric....which now sits at 2 and 10...watch out .500!  Congrats to Eric on a good season and another good team, per the usual.

Congratulations to Travis on making it 2 in a row over my teams. After a decade of incredibly good luck in the playoffs, I just couldn't get the rolls this year. Camden had the better team, but Surprise was good enough that it should have been a closer series. The Zombies did play them very tough at Camden, but were victimized by a couple big innings. Sadly, they must have lost their bats on the trip home and ended the season with dispiriting back-to-back shutouts. On the plus side, this means I can focus on annoying everyone with trade talk.

So it's down to Travis vs. Rick in the CLCS and FLCS. Get your popcorn ready!
