draft- k mellilo oak, t mendoza ana, j johnson bal, t bowyer fla, l broadway cha, n weglarz cle, c ambres card, f osoria la, r colon card, I dejesus lad, e gonzalez arz, m brantlet mil, m collins ans
profile- Carillo is SD's #1 prospect. A rhp out of UMia who projects as a top of the rotation sp. He should sail through the minors and be in line for a sept call up and compete for a rotation spot next year.
assesment- I like this draft a lot. Mellilo is an offensive mended 2b like Giles and I think Johnson, Bowyer and Broadway are ticketed the majors.
top pick- Franklin Morales Lhp Col 2nd rd 38th overall
draft- w ohman card, c roe col, d guerra nyn, c ruiz phi, b jerolman uf
profile- Moralez is a young lh who throws consistently around 95 and can touch 98. He is very raw and will need several years before reaching Coors Field.
assesment- The Rockies haven't shown much ability to develop pitchers and that park is a killer for young kids. Moralez and Roe have talent but lets just say I am less than optimistic that this will have a happy ending.
top pick- Brandon Jones Atl OF 1st rd 26th overall
draft- m torra arz, c italiano oak, j ellison card, b boesch cal, j bogany lsu, m macri col, c nicholas arz, c brown okst, b emaus tul
profile- Jones would profile as a toolsy rf for any other team but atl has rf locked down with francouer so he will likely be a lf. The good news is he has baseball skills and all the tools to succeed. He hits for avg/power and should be an above avg def lf. The bads news is he has been hurt missing 2 months last year and only has 60 abs above low A ball. He will be 22 yo this season and can afford no more setbacks.
top picks- Max Scherzer Miz rhp 1st rd 9th overall, Nolan Reimold Bal OF 1st rd 10th overall, Wade Davis TB rhp 1st rd 22nd overall, Garrret Mock Arz rhp 1st rd 27th overall, Garrett Olsen Bal Lhp 1st rd 28th overall
draft- j chamberlain neb, j arencia tenn, c johnson hs, e nunez nya
profile- so many to chose from. Scherzer has an electric arm. He can bring at nearly 100 mph and will either be a front of the rotation sp or a ml closer. He will efinitely be drafted in the 1st rf this june.
assesment- with 6 1st rd picks and 9 picks in the top 2 rounds. Sfe should have reaped a windfall. These are all quality players with huge upsides. Two june 1st rounders, 2 middle of the order hitters and 3 front end of the rotation pitchers add up to this years best draft. I'm sorry to tell the FL this but the Dark Lord appears to be regaining his power.
draft- d veal chn, b shackelford card, k slowey min, b anderson stl, d griffin stl, m constanzo phi, c janssen tor, p sandoval sfo, l cain mil, r liz bal, j mcgee tb, j mijares min, n stavinhoa stl, a rosales cin, a lopez tb, t dillard mil, e garabito card, a bates ncst, j matvila tb, s lecure cin, c getz chn whew!!
profile- Ramirez would the top catching porspect for most teams, but Atl has Salty and Mcann ahead of him for the moment. He is a quality backup with a good bat. It will be interesting to see if Atl who Atl moves to another position or gets traded because all 3 are ml quality.
assesment-Sup tries to make in quality with quantity. A whole new minor league sytem was drafted this year. I really like Slowey, Liz and Mcgee. I'm sure some of these others will end up be useful players.
