In the harsh light of day after the marathon madness of a CFA auction, many of us suffer from regrets over our choices and must somehow find a way to live with the consequences. For Steve and Gallatin Valley, it was spending $100K on Tyson Ross as their 16th pitcher. However, this is his lucky day because Surprise is desperate to find creative ways to entertain their fans who have grown jaded after a long stretch of dominance. Therefore, SUR will send $100K in bright shiny quarters to GAL for their old pal Tyson Ross.
You know what that means, the Ross Brothers Reunion is really happening! I mean, how could I resist? It's going to be a long season...
Uh oh, you should know what else that means. It's time for another one of Uncle Eric's dreaded history lessons!
Our story begins in 2012 (!) when Surprise drafted young Joe Ross in the 3rd round. In 2013, they added his older brother Tyson as $50K FA unlimited starter. That turned out much better than expected as he played a key role in SUR winning 3 straight championships from 2014-2016. For the 2016 season, his younger brother Joe finally joined him. They were truly a dynamic duo as Tyson was 20-6 with a 2.95 ERA while Joe went 10-0 with a 2.49 ERA! Alas, Tyson suffered an injury and missed the 2017 season, rehabilitating in the Zombie system while watching his brother pitch well again. The story got even darker for the Ross brothers in 2018, as both left Surprise. Joe departed to Shiner on a C contract, while Tyson landed on a godforsaken Rome team as a FA unlimited starter, coincidentally enough for $100K. Tyson bounced back well enough in 2018 that SUR tried to liberate him from Rome, but he remained an unwilling prisoner to Mike's foul designs. As for Joe, he remained with SHI but missed the entire season due to injury. That finally brings us to 2019! Joe returned from SHI to SUR on a C and now is finally reunited with older brother Tyson. I can't wait to find out what happens next for our heroes!
Okay, so that was fun for me, which is what really matters. So let's make some more deals!
Gallatin Valley agrees to the deal and is happy to have become a part of the Ross brothers lore. I wish them both the best and hope that there is joy in their lives again after being reunited.
