Several people have asked if we can have the auction during the day on Sunday. That works fine by me and I haven't heard any objection, so I am proposing a 10 am CT / 11 am ET / 4:37 am Eric Standard Time Sunday start time for the Auction.
That makes the possible dates for the auction either Feb 10 or Feb 17 (I can't do the 24th and since I'm running the thing, that means that's out).
What do people prefer? Let me know either here or by email and I'll post the winner here on Tuesday.
Please let me know asap if I'm missing something worldwide that would make one of those dates particularly bad.
The new game ships on Feb.11th, and this would be the first day for the download, so it only makes sense to have the auction of Feb.17th, so we can have the cards/game prior.
Oops, sorry all, I just realized that I am going to be out of town on the 17th. So it has to be the 10th since I'm running the auction. Apologies to those who preferred the 17th.
With the 17th and the 24th both out, and the 10th occurring before the game/download is released, can we simply go back to the original day of Saturday, the 16th, and just start the draft as early as possible? At least that date has been out there for several weeks.
So the 16th, 17th, and 24th are out for C/FA Auction. I assume Tom that the 23rd is out as well? There are no options to having the C/FA Auction AFTER the cards/new game is released on Feb.11th?
I'm out for the tenth, there's no way I can sit in front of the computer for several hours on a Sunday afternoon with three kids milling around the house.
I'm also not crazy about having a draft before the game is even released, which makes absolutely no sense to me.
The 16th was perfectly fine for me.
Sorry Carl, the 10th at 10 am CT is the time. We had a lot of requests for an earlier start this year so we're giving that a shot. Unfortunately, with a live auction there is never going to be a date/time that works for everyone. Someone else can bid for you in the auction if you send instructions (ideally not me since I'll be running the auction and bidding for my teams but I will if you can't find someone else).
I don't recall it ever being a concern before about whether or not the cards had been released before the auction. We've had it before and after previously and other leagues I'm in have already started their drafts. I will keep that in mind for next year.
It would be appreciated if next year the draft could be held in the evening again.
It was very difficult to change plans for today, and then for me to stay with the draft, and I had to leave the computer many times during the FA draft, after sitting through most of the C draft in its entirety...
Speaking for myself, it's tough for people with young families to spend that much time in front of a computer when the minions are awake and restless.
I can imagine some prefer the day draft as opposed to the night draft...I get that.
So perhaps, to make everyone happy, you could try alternating, one year in the morning/afternoon, the next year in the evening/night.
If it were held at this time every year I would probably be forced to resign from the league, as I wouldn't want to go through what I went through today, to try and get through both drafts.
Anyways, something to keep in mind for the future.
