All -

I have posted a bunch of information on the site:

- 2016-17 Proposed Calendar (on the "Calendar" page, duh).  Note in particular the Feb 11 and Mar 4 evening dates for the C/FA Auction and IOD.  Please let me know ASAP if there is an issue with those dates (or any others) that I am missing.  Pretty sure I remembered to avoid Super Bowl weekend for once.  :)

- Updated Money Balances.

- Draft Order.  This is pending the first-5-picks in the first round, which League Provost Brasher will run (since both SFE and SJ were terrible enough to be in the lottery this year I obviously can't run it myself), and of course the league champ will move to the final slot.  We had 3 ties that were randomly resolved as follows:

BAL over TWP (flipping in even-numbered rounds)

GOO over EGR (flipping in even-numbered rounds)

KC over ROM over CAP (which will go ROM-CAP-KC in round 2, then CAP-KC-ROM in round 3, etc etc)

Please let me know if anything looks off or if you have any questions.

Thanks,

-Tom

For posterity, I am posting Eric's email about the randomized top 5 picks in the first round:

Hello all,

I've been coaxed out of my Fortress of Solitude to once again reluctantly conduct Ye Olde Draft Lottery.  Tom's legendary managerial skills have led both his teams into the bottom 5, so this weighty responsibility falls to me.  I really would rather not, given that Tom has enjoyed annoyingly good luck in recent lotteries.  Surely the world is not cruel enough to allow that to happen again...

The 5 draft lottery participants are:

BOS (45 wins)

SFE (46 wins)

BRK (51 wins)

SJ (57 wins)

SCG (58 wins)

According to our beloved Constitution, the worst team (BOS) receives 5 chances, next worst gets 4, and so on until the 5th worst (SCG) with only 1 chance to get lucky.  Following our time-honored (and highly scientific) traditions, I painstakingly manufactured 15 little slips of paper with team names written on them, corresponding to their number of lottery chances.  These momentous slips were then folded and mixed up in an official Receptacle of Randomness. Serving that honorary role this year was a blue (and rather soiled) Spring Training cap from Surprise, AZ.  Slips were then drawn from the hat to determine the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th picks.  Of course, once teams had earned their place, subsequent draws of their names were ignored.  In the interest of heightened drama, I will now announce the draft order in reverse...

The 5th pick in the 2017 ARBA IOD goes to...

SCG!  - Yeah, it's tough to move up with only 1 chance in 15.

The 4th pick goes to...

BRK! - Uh-oh, that means SJ moves up.  Dammit!

The 3rd pick goes to...

BOS! - No!  Despite having the worst record, BOS drops to #3.

The 2nd pick goes to...

SJ! - Ugh.  So Tom's 2nd crappiest team jumps up from 4th to 2nd.  <sigh>

The 1st pick goes to...

SFE again!  Why have you forsaken us, oh Receptacle of Randomness?

So yeah, that's how it went down, much to my dismay.  I really really really don't want to give Tom any more top picks.  That's just sick and wrong.

I'll probably do the playoff leagues this weekend, if I can recover from this tragic result.  Perhaps listening to the Hamilton Soundtrack will help...

- EB
