Confirmed! Not so coincidentally, Shiner gets younger and cheaper with this deal. Thanks and good luck to Mr. Dickey for his 5 terrific seasons in Shiner, including 3 WS appearances and a championship. You will always drink for free in Shiner, good sir. As for Zimmerman...hope you enjoy spending our money, I guess.
Okay, so what's left? Well, beloved catcher Yadier Molina would probably appreciate another opportunity with a contender and we would oblige if the right offer came along. LH reliever Jake McGee was pretty great in limited IP. Swingman Collmenter might appeal to someone. I'm also not terribly attached to 3B Freese, RF Markakis, LF Cabrera, or 1B Moreland. However, all are cheap enough that I'm happy to keep them around. The farm system is so deep that prospects and picks could be dealt given sufficient temptation. Cash is abundant.
The biggest need at this point is in the starting rotation, where we are down to 78 starts, not including Matt "Dead to Me" Garza. That's a bit scary. We'll also need a catcher to replace Molina if/when he finally rides off into the sunset. Beyond that, we're in the market for interesting young talent at the major league level. Future potential is far more important than current value, although the ability to contribute PA/IP/GS certainly helps.
