Surprise continues to gear up for another championship run, this time adding Jhonny Peralta and the ubiquitous $100K from East Greenwich, in exchange for young pitchers Martin Perez and Tyler Danish.
Other than the still pending 2014 World Series, this will end Yunel Escobar's 6-year run as the Surprise starting shortstop. Thanks for 4 great years and 2 decent ones. The Kung Fu Panda has been in town for less than a week, but it was quickly obvious that he and Escobar were incompatible. Wanting to keep the big guy happy, Surprise made this move to add his recent teammate. There were also some strange reports about Escobar forgetting how to play defense that might have been a factor.
