Surprise definitely isn't ready to start the offseason yet, but I'll go ahead and post some initial thoughts anyway. Their pitching looks very good again, despite some disappointments. However, the offense isn't really up to par and most of the part-time studs from their 2014 team cratered.
So, what does it all mean? I feel compelled to compete given the quality of their pitching and the fact that SHI sucks, but don't expect to dominate without significant help from you guys. In particular, SUR would appreciate a couple big bats for DH and CF or RF. A catcher to replace or platoon (vs. RHP) with Rosario would be nice, as would upgrading from long-term SS Yunel Escobar.
Available stuff includes:
1) Pitchers not quite up to our lofty standards - Marco Estrada, JJ Hoover, Brandon Kintzler, Brian Matusz, Caleb Thielbar
2) Batters: Not much excess here, but I could move Utley to make room for Odor. Escobar, Rosario, and/or Jennings could go if I'm getting a better option in return. Nava, Venable, Murphy, Cody Ross, and Raburn are certainly available if you're into that sort of thing.
3) Picks and prospects: Don't bother asking about Buxton or Gray, just don't.
