Shiner: It took a couple weeks, but Jeff Mathis has worn out his welcome and now joins Jeff Francis on the bargain rack. All Jeffs must go! Don't want to pay that exorbitant $40K price to fill out your roster through the waiver draft? Well, here's your chance to pick up a cheap player or even better, take them both. Just make me an offer!
Surprise: Although Dee Gordon is still technically available, I'm unlikely to actually trade him unless a fabulous offer comes along. I just keep thinking back to when I traded away his father too soon oh so many years ago. However, Surprise will add young lefty reliever Scott Elbert (2.20 ERA) to keep John Lannan company on their "For Sale" list. Both of them have some current and future value, but SUR just has too many low IP pitchers on their roster. So I would be willing to trade either or both for a likeable pitcher with more IP (particulary one with a closer rating), an interesting prospect, and/or cash. I might even be interested in taking another OF not named Eric Thames (sorry, Warren).
It's been too long since my last deal. Bring on the offers!
