(1) Add the MLB second wild-card structure. This would be a post-season game and thus would occur after the full rest reset that follows the regular season and there would be 1 day of rest following the game before the start of the LCS. (i.e. a SP could start the last game of the regular season and then the WC game but would need at least 3 additional days of rest (4 if not an * pitcher) before starting again).
(2) Limiting the DH. This is a 2-part vote.
(a) Should we limit the use of the DH in the league.
(b) If the DH is limited, will we either (i) have each team declare annually upon submission of rosters in January whether they will use the DH or (ii) declare one league to be the DH league and one league to be the non-DH league.
With respect to rule proposal 2, please be sure to vote on part (b) even if you vote no on part (a) so that your preference on (b) can be applied if (a) passes.
Mechanics on implementing proposal 2 would be determined by the Commissioner. I am currently thinking that if (2)(b) passes I will poll the teams and if either league has more owners wishing to be the non-DH league then I would make that league the non-DH league and if there was no disparity then I would flip a coin. In either case that league would be the permanent non-DH league unless an owner vote determines otherwise.
In any event, rule (2) would be implemented for the 2014 season and forward and NOT for the 2013 season.
Please vote asap. Votes are due by TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4, at 11:59 pm.
2a - No on the DH. I would be for this in a face to face league or a league where Netplay is required. Don't beleive this will work fairly in a computer league with Hal as the CM for the visiting team. Just my opinion.
2b - Declare by league, not by individual team; and I would wish to be in the DH league.
Just a thought, but after reading Gary's post, perhaps single team managers should state their preference for what kind of league, so that we might have an idea of what kind of reshuffling we are looking at? Mine is still no, of course, but that potential reshuffling may influence others?
To clarify, obviously a single team's vote is a preference, but some manager's may/may not care to move leagues/division in spite of the vote and I would like to kind of get an idea of how much reshuffling would be in order if it passes. Sorry if the previus post was confusing. Being busy and replying to a post is not the best of ideas it seems....
**I don't care if one league becomes a DH league and the other doesn't, but I would rather play in a DH league....if enough teams are interested to make it workout and the league agrees to shuffle some teams around to make it all work then that's fine too.
I vote yes on making our playoff structure match the MLB structure.
On #2 I abstain on part A, but for part B I vote for one non-DH league over the "home rules" option.
As a two-team owner I don't think Warren's "reshuffling" question really affects me so much- I intend to keep playing in both leagues whether one of them goes non-DH or not.
