Although Shiner does at least have a core of good players, their current state depresses me even more. I feel obligated to contend, but there are an awful lot of holes to fill for that to turn out well.
Needs - SP, 2B, 3B, SS, CF.
For sale:
1) Lots of disappointing batters who created the above needs: C. Young, R. Weeks, Roberts, Ryan, Izturis, Schierholtz.
2) Disappointing (but cheap) starters who contributed to that need: Chen, Bedard.
3) Token young rookie pitcher: Pat Corbin
4) Relievers! Hey, we actually have lots of good stuff here. In contrast to many other areas, the bullpen is an embarrassment of riches despite the somewhat disappointing season by Axford. SHI has Balfour, Casilla, Janssen, Ogando, Grilli, Patton, and Elbert. All were good to great and it seems a little excessive to keep everyone.
