What's that? Rome has made 11 trades already and Shiner has only made 4? Well, I'd better pick up the pace! Oh yeah, I still have that other team too...
By popular demand and YOC unspoken longing, I will now describe some ways that You, the reader, can help the 2012 Shiner Blondes improve further.
1) OF/DH - I've acquired 3 of these to go with 3 incumbents (not including the Cs), but I'm still not satisfied! Melky Cabrera is currently projected as our primary LF, but I would like to deal him for a bigger bat, particularly vs. RHP. I could move Willingham to LF if the big bat is not so much an OF. Cabrera would presumably have more value to a team where he could play CF. You know you you are!
2) SS - Brendan Ryan can certainly field well enough, but I haven't given up the dream of finding a SS who can both field and hit. It could happen, right?
3) 2B - Rickie Weeks rocked an .818 OPS and some sweet dreads, but I would like better fielding from this position, without sacrificing too much offense of course. There have to be a few viable replacements out there, I guess.
4) SP - There's still room for another starter as the top 5 combine for 143 starts. That total doesn't include Buehrle (comes off A to a B2!), Pineiro or Boston's Beloved Lackey.
5) Bench - Calling all part-timers who could provide strong contributions off the bench, Shiner wants you!
Assorted players, picks, and prospects are available to participate in the scenarios described above. While hope still lives, I'm unlikely to trade anyone for only prospects, picks or cash. However, I wouldn't mind getting some of that stuff back in a deal.
Okay, now bring on the fabulous offers! I have a lot of work to do to catch that crazy team from Rome and making deals with him won't help close the gap.
