The original post generated so much exciting activity, that I want to relive the magic all over again now. Or perhaps I just need something to distract me from the tense FLDS battle with that scrappy Washington team.
The Zombies are still alive in the 2010 playoffs, but have very little chance of making it in 2011. The core is good enough that I'm not doing a full teardown and rebuild process, but is shopping some veterans who may be more valuable to a more legitimate contender.
Here's who is on the trade block:
1) Francisco Rodriguez - comes off A to B8, 2.2 ERA, 25 SV, 63 adj IP
2) Jason Bay - comes off A to B8, still playable despite lost season and has strong bounceback potential
3) Randy Wolf - 34 GS, 4.17 ERA, affordable B5 contract, happy to keep him around if a good offer doesn't come along
4) Jack Cust - Had .880 OPS vs. RHP, will attempt to play RF or LF if asked
5) Eric Hinske - Lefty hitter can play lf/1b/3b, decent vs. RHP, crushed LHP
6) Greg Zaun - Switch hitting catcher with .840 OPS vs. RHP
7) Ben Sheets - Briefly back from the dead for 20 respectable starts, B1 contract
8) Jaime Moyer - The old man was surprisingly effective in his 19 starts, really!
Others may be available if you ask nicely enough, but I'll start with this group.
The SUR minors are relatively full, so there's only room for high quality prospects or picks. I'm mostly seeking younger players who can help me take down SFE (and others) in the near future, even if they can't help much this season.
