SO THERE IS NO MISUNDERSTANDING HERE IS THE ACTUAL WORDING FROM THE CONSTITUTION: "Trades may not be made, directly or indirectly, between teams owned by the same manager." AS A FORMER COMMISSIONER I WOULD HAVE RULED THIS TRADE ILLEAGAL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD BE A "GRAY AREA". IS THIS NOT A "TRADE" WAS THIS "TRADE" NOT "MADE INDIRECTLY BETWEEN THE SAME MANAGER". RULING ON "INTENT" TO ME LEADS US DOWN A VERY, VERY VERY SLIPPERY SLOPE-I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD BE GETTING INTO THE MINDS OF OUR MANAGERS-WE SHOULD INSTEAD MEASURE THEIR ACTIONS SINCE THESE ARE QUANTIFIABLE. IF I MADE A TRADE WITH DOUG THAT WOULD SEND BOSTONS #1 PICK TO KC AND WAS ASK ABOUT IT AND SAID IT WAS UNINTENTIONABLE HOW COULD I BE WRONG, I WOULD HAVE TO BE CALLED A LIAR TO OVERRULE THE TRADE AND IS THAT WHERE WE WANT TO BE. I DON'T THINK SO. THERE I'VE SAID MY 2 CENTS.
We elect a commish every year. He was asked prior to the trade and made a decision. The trade went through, it's over and it really doesn't hurt anybody (besides me, 'cause I was second in line for Sanchez).
If we want a parliamentary decision then let's put it to a vote.
I think you're right Aaron. Think about how Gov. Blagojevich shouldn't be on trial right now. He and Obama are both elected officials. And the people spoke and now Obama is prez. So Obama didn't really need the Senate seat anyway right? So he's not really hurt by it. Plus America got the prez they wanted so they aren't really hurt either. Blago is just trying to make a little cash, no biggie. It's in the "spirit" of politics, right? Or the American Dream can't remember. Either way he's advancing in the world right and feeding his family, right?
Even though the law says it's clearly illegal, we're really not expected to be held to a black and white law are we? i mean c'mon, this is AMERICA in the 21st century....we have feelings and needs and sometimes we just need to "interpret" the laws instead of actually abiding by them. I think you might be on to something A, I think you might be on to something spectacular!!!!
I guess I want to be in line for the next team available....Go buy some pom-poms and get enough "spirit" and I might be able to do whatever I want since we can't figure out what "indirectly" means. I think the wording should be "partially" direct, or "pseudo" directly".
I do have a question though. Does this mean I'm not going to get fined for over usage next year? I'm not really sure anyone knows the exact meaning of "adjusted" plate appearances.....so can I "adjust" mine a little more? Is it really going to matter if I win 100 games or 105? It's just 5 little games and it would save me some cash in the end. And I can show a lot of spirit or be really spiritual....whichever is needed.

However, I find it absolutely amusing that this is even being discussed given the wording of the constitution. I didn't know we were in the business of breaking down the meaning of "trade" into individual parts.

My attempt at humor might have been a bit much, but I was bored and thought I would stoke the fire for some desert entertainment.
As far as missing the holidays.....well I've come to find out it's basically the norm in my profession as you well know. Whether it's Christmas, Turkey Day, or anything else, odds are we're not gonna get to see all of them in one year.
But hey, thanks for your support....You served long before I did and deserve a great thank you as well.
I'm just a small cog in a giant machine, and I'm really not that special. Just continuing the path that was cut by the great men before me, and will continued to be paved by great men long after I'm gone.
