Madrid is planning on putting Scott Downs on a C to raise cash.
Downs had a 1.78 ERA in 70 IP this season with 5 saves, after a 2.17 ERA in 58 IP in 2007. .541 OPS allowed vs LHB, .624 OPS vs RHB.
Given that he's going to be a relative inexpensive B5, it should be more beneficial if someone wants to just buy him up front and keep him on that contract.
As you may all remember, bidding for these guys can get pretty crazy at the auction (see the 1.56M paid for Dennys Reyes two years ago).
