It's been too long since my last trade and I'm feeling restless, so here's another one of my infamous rambling posts. As usual, I'm interested in adding draft picks in rounds 1-3, elite prospects, young players with upside, and reclamation projects. The only real holes at the major league level right now are corner OF and the pitching staff, but of course that may change with trades.
In return for stuff like that, Surprise can offer cash, picks, and/or players. Note that I have extra picks in 5 of the top 6 rounds.
Players who I'm not actively shopping, but would trade if the price is right include: Milton Bradley, Aubrey Huff, AJ Pierzynski, Hank Blalock, Rob Bowen, Rod Barajas, and Mike Wuertz, and perhaps some others if I'm in the mood. It is hard to believe that a contender wouldn't covet Bradley's awesome part-time CF card at least.
Players who would be VERY cheap to acquire include: 1) David Aardsma - unlimited relief, still young and hard-throwing 2) Craig Wilson - unlimited 1B, healthy and ready to bounce back 3) Mike Sweeney - 1B with 300+ PA, hit lefties well 4) Jason Vargas - great as rookie in 2005, struggled since then, but still very young and talented. Had surgery and should be healthy to start 2008. 5) Josh Rupe - Has had trouble staying healthy, but there's still potential there.
A small cash donation and/or a little pick-swapping in my favor would be sufficient for members of the latter group. Just make them disappear!
I would also consider moving some of my other prospects, but definitely not the top guys, so stop asking about them!
Okay, that's enough. Let me know if you have any bright ideas.
