Furcal would get things rolling in the 1st with a walk and stolen base. He would come around to score on Ichiro's single. Harmony Grove would answer in the bottom of the inning with 5 runs on homeruns from Matsui and Andruw. Iowa would score 2 in the 2nd and Harmony Grove answered with 1. Iowa added 1 in the 5th and Harmony Grove answered with 6 in the bottom of the inning which was started by a Furcal error. Harmony Grove would add 2 more in the 6th. Iowa added 2 more in the 8th on an Ichiro double. Smoltz captured the complete game win 14 to 6.
Game 2: Cook vs Kazmir
Harmony Grove started out the game scoring 3 runs in the first, aided by another Furcal error. They would add single runs in the 2nd and 3rd. Pujols would answer with a solo shot in the 4th. Iowa added another run in the 9th but came up short, 5 to 2. Kazmir got the win and Rivera the save.
Game 3: Clemens vs Garland
Iowa started the scoring with 1 in the first and then added 2 in the 3rd on an Atkins homerun. Harmony Grove would get on the board in the 5th with a 2 run homerun from Baldelli. Iowa would answer in the bottom of the inning with 1 run. Big Papi would then tie the game up with a 2 run homerun in the 6th. Furcal would atone for his errors in the 7th knocking in the go ahead run. Iowa finished off the 5 to 4 victory. Torres got the win and Weathers the save.
Game 4: Smoltz vs Pettitte
Iowa would start the scoring again in the 1st on a Pujols 2 run home run. Harmony Grove would answer back with 1 in the 2nd. Homeruns by Dye and Thome would give Harmony Grove 3 more runs in the 4th, Iowa answered with 1 in the bottom of the inning. Harmony Grove would add 4 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th, and 3 in the 8th on a Dye homerun. Smoltz got his second complete game win 12 to 3.
Game 5: Zito vs Lackey
For once Harmony Grove would start the scoring with 1 in the first. Harmony Grove would then get solo shots from Andruw in the 4th and Big Papi in the 5th. Harmony Grove would tack on a much needed run the 7th before Iowa stormed back with 2 in the 8th on a Nady homerun and 1 in the 9th on an Ichiro triple. With the tying run in the on deck circle Harmony Grove turned to Rivera who was able to get Furcal to ground out. Zito gets the 6 to 3 win and Rivera gets the save.
Congratulations to Dennis on a great season, it was a fun series with lots of scoring.
