To continue in Keith's draft vein and following up on Tom S's Top 10s, I went through the BA Top 100 by ARBA Team to see where the minor league talent lies. Results by number of owned prospects and by weighted order (eg Dice-K is worth 100 points and Beato is worth 1 point):
not bad for Ely considering I wholesaled many of my top prospects over the past 2 years trying to compete.
when you consider guys like: Mike Pelfrey Troy Patton Cameron Maybin Neil Walker Homer Bailey
I've won exactly 0 ARBA playoff series and have the following to show for it:
G. Sheffield - aged and declining fast J. Randa - is he even gonna play anymore T. Redding - dud Juan Pierre - declined in the 2 years I had him and has since been traded Placido Polanco - declining, will probably never see his .300+ BA again Matt Morris - declining Edgar Renteria - average/good major league SS Kevin Millwood - declined over past year Ben Molina - aging fast
or if I didn't make the trades to lose in the playoffs I could have the following still on my team making a stunning young team of:
SP - Homer Bailey (pierre trade, redo please) SP - Mike Pelfrey (polanco, please God redo, Tom caught me in weak moment) SP - Troy Patton (see polanco above) OF - Cameron Maybin (Millwood, another redo would be nice)
And my good friend Travis reminds me about my stupid trades everytime we talk prospects too....what a bastard
Just remember most of those players on SFE are not home grown. Tom is a great acquirer of other people's top prospects. As SFE has had 20 1st and 2nd rd picks in the last 2 years plus all the players that Sfe has traded away to aquire BA top 100, I find it slightly amazing that Sfe has "only 19" of the top 100.
As for getting Eric's status confused, I have to plead stupidity as I seem to get Sup/Sos/Spr confused.
Kemp- Impressive numbers at Albquerque in the PCL and a bus ticket will get you a ride with Danny Heep, Karim Garcia, Jack Cust, Todd Hollandsworth and other stars who tore up the PCL. Draft status as a solid end of 1st rd talent UNCHANGED.
Of course, considering that for years I was trading away any minor-league player with a pulse for guys to help me sustain my title run, I'm shocked that I still have Wood.
