I've had some 2nd (and 3rd) thoughts about the wisdom of paying a premium for Danys Baez in Surprise's post-championship rebuilding year. So if there's anyone out there who really wants a quality reliever with the 3 closer rating and no ball-park homer chances. Overall, his card is a lot better than that ERA would suggest. He also hasn't turned 30 yet, so should be plenty left in the tank. Even with the big C bid, he would only need a B2 contract for next season.
So I'm perfectly comfortable keeping him around, but want to at least explore my options. Of course, we remain interested in cash, picks, and quality prospects. At the major league level, we're mostly seeking help for the pitching staff as only 9 would remain without Baez. As the mantra goes, future value is more important than current performance. Although various talks are ongoing, we do still have an OF surplus, if you want to make things more complicated. Of course, I'm always in favor of that!
